Life Nights

At Our Lady of Fatima, the Mass never ends! The Life Nights, which follow the Sunday evening youth Mass, encourage an attitude of living out the Mass day to day. By removing the traditional classroom setting, religious education is transformed into an experience to be gained rather than information to be retained.

Life Nights are not just limited to those enrolled in OLF religious education. They are open, and inviting, to all high school students.

Each Life Night is made up of four parts (all based on elements from the mass):

  • GATHER: This part of the Life Night welcomes the teens, captures their attention and interest, and sets the tone for the night. Gathers can include videos, skits, and games.
  • PROCLAIM: This is the teaching portion of the night, making the Word of God relevant to teens.
  • BREAK: This is the opportunity for the teens to process the topic of the nights. It gives them a voice and allows them to explore how the topic applies to their lives. The break is often in small group settings.
  • SEND: This is the wrap-up of the night. It usually gives the teens practical, concrete ways to live out the message of the night. It always brings the teens into a time of prayer and an encounter with Christ.

In the fall semester of 2019, OLF Life Nights had a semester theme called “The Summit”, which focused on the Mass. In current theme for the spring of 2020, is on on vocations.
